The 'Inside Aged Care' website is a critical examination of the aged care sector and describes what is happening there. It is not about stigmatising or blaming any individual or company. It is about illustrating what is happening and trying to explain how in spite of genuine motivation in most instances, there are major failures. The failures are in the system and not primarily about money, although the intense focus on money is a major contributor to that failure.

Please understand that I am not claiming that all of the quotes are accurate, but merely that they have been said and are representative of concerns about the sector. They reveal how the writers or the people quoted are thinking. I am writing about what people say and believe, not about whether they are right or wrong. The point is that we don't know for certain because we don't have a system that collects the sort of information we need.
It is the volume and pattern of the material that I think is significant, and the extent to which similar things are said in very different countries.
Naming individuals: I am not targeting individuals or companies but using what they said or what is said about them to illustrate social processes and the forces at work. You cannot criticise something without examples. I am suggesting that the number and breadth of the examples and the quotes are a reflection of underlying problems in the sector.
A compromise: I have compromised wherever possible by not using the real names of many of the Australian companies or individuals on the web pages. I do give links or references to the original material where the names of the companies and individuals are given and where the quotes can be seen in context. The responses to the criticisms made can be seen there.
To many familiar with the sector, it will be obvious who the quotes refer to and I have often left the initials there. By doing this I am trying to move the focus away from the blame game and focus on the social pressures at work and how we respond to them. If you want to respond and comment please do so - anonymously if you prefer. If possible use the same name that I have used for the company or individual. That makes it less personal. If you disagree with my interpretation of the situation please comment at the foot of the related page and explain why I am wrong and what the real explanation is.
